We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead design and development of complex, highly available, distributed systems on AWS using Go, Python, and Node.js, running on Kubernetes-based platforms such as EKS and OpenShift. You will set technical direction for a team, drive an automation-first engineering culture, and act as a hands-on technical leader who partners with product and client stakeholders to turn requirements into resilient, well-tested systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead design and development ofcomplex, distributed, high-availability systems in Go, Python, and Node.js
• Define technical approach andengineering best practices for the team
• Own key AWS infrastructuredecisions covering scalability, cost, security, and resilience across containerorchestration platforms (EKS, OpenShift) and serverless/compute services
• Drive automation strategyacross CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning, testing, and operations
• Lead technical design reviews and set coding and architecture standards
• Mentor mid-level and juniorengineers and guide their technical growth
• Partner with product andbusiness stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Lead incident response,root-cause analysis, and long-term reliability improvements
• Evaluate and introduce newtools and technologies where they add clear value
• Bachelor's or Master's degreein Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8–12 years of softwareengineering experience, with significant depth in distributed systems
• Expert-level proficiency in Goand Python, with strong working proficiency in Node.js for polyglot serviceenvironments
• Deep hands-on expertise with AWS architecture and services, including container orchestration on EKS
• Hands-on experience running andoperating workloads on Red Hat OpenShift as an enterprise Kubernetes platform
• Proven experience designing andscaling automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform,CloudFormation, or Ansible)
• Strong grasp of distributedsystems fundamentals: consistency models, fault tolerance, service mesh,messaging systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS), and data partitioning
• Experience leading technicalprojects or small teams
• Strong written and verbalcommunication skills for working with cross-functional and client stakeholders
• Strong, demonstrated use ofAI-assisted and agentic development workflows (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, orsimilar) across the full development lifecycle: design, coding, testing,review, and documentation
• Able to define and enforceteam-level standards for responsible AI-assisted coding, including validationrigor, security scanning of AI-generated code, and avoiding data leakage inprompts
• Practical knowledge of AI/LLMintegration patterns for backend systems: APIs, prompt design,retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and agentic workflows (e.g.,MCP)
• Able to identify whereAI-driven automation can meaningfully improve engineering velocity, codequality, or operational efficiency, and lead adoption within the team
• Ensures AI tool usage on theteam aligns with data privacy and security requirements, particularly aroundPHI and other sensitive health plan data
• Extensive experience in the UShealth insurance or payer domain: claims, enrollment, benefits, providernetworks, and HIPAA/compliance-aware system design
• Experience with healthcareinteroperability standards (HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI)
• Prior experience in aclient-facing consulting or professional services environment
